Kelly Purtell

Kelly Purtell is an interdisciplinary artist and writer from Baltimore, Maryland who is interested in the power of storytelling across cultural forms & mediums.

Kelly is a professor of writing at Stevenson University and lives in Baltimore with her fiancé, 4 hens, and cat. 

Kelly is passionate about knowledge—and she’s not just hungry for facts—but eager to better understand the systems that construct and validate truth. She seeks to uncover the social impacts of institutions that build scientific knowledge through research and education.

Her current, most important writing project is the non-fiction book continuing the work of her 2020 podcast, Radium and Roses, which has 2600 downloads with listeners in 35 countries across the globe. Read more about this project & more of her work under the “Writing & Research” tab.

For over ten years, Kelly has practiced & performed circus arts and aerial acrobatics. She also specializes in textile dyeing and fabrication for aerial applications, having shipped custom aerial textiles all over the globe.
